I’m linking up with The Sunday Post hosted by Kimberly @Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

Nothing to report over here! The weather has been erratic, my kid even more so. I did get a lot of reading done this week! Though I got halfway through a book before deciding I didn’t want to read it, which is unfortunate.

I did two arc reviews this week! (click on the picture to see the review):

The Wicked Deep by Shea Earnshaw

I was very lucky, I really enjoyed them both!

The Wicked Deep for me definitely had some less redeeming stuff, sadly it fell apart for me in the last 70 pages or so, but before that I LOVED it and the writing is stellar, so I give it four out of five witches.

The Precious Dreadful is AMAZING. I love it, start to finish. About a teenage girl with all kinds of problems who starts seeing a ghost and remembering a traumatic event from her childhood. Five of five ghosts!

WELL this is where things really fall to shit for me because I NEVER read what I plan to read. I did start This Love Story Will Self Destruct, like I’d planned to last week, but I got halfway through and hated the main character and couldn’t keep going. So here’s my plan, let’s see if I can stick to it:

Big little Lies is obviously not an arc, but I’ve had it on my shelf for a bit and I’m trying to get those down!

I am trying to do “Off the Bookcase” posts, as well as arcs. So this week I read We Were Liars, which came out in 2014 and has sat on my shelf more or less since then. Itttt is definitely an interesting one. I loved some things and hated others. Here’s my review!

I give it four of five boats.

I hope everyone is having an incredible week, and I can’t wait to read your posts!

  1. I tried to read We Were Liars waaaay back, and I thought it was interesting, but I couldn’t get into the writing style at all. D: I ended up DNFing it, which is a shame to the bookish community. :'( Happy reading, Vani! <3

How funny! That’s the one thing about it I liked haha! I enjoy odd formatting and weird sentences every so often.

  2. Precious Dreadful sounds amazing! I’ll have to check it out. Have a great week!

I really like the sound of The Precious Dreadful! This is the 1st I’ve heard of it but I want to check it out – plus that cover!!! I really want to read Big Little Lies myself but haven’t yet picked it up. Hopefully soon though! It looks like you have lots of great reading ahead of you. Enjoy!

  4. The cover for Big Little Lies makes me want to buy it, it’s just so bright and eye catching. I read We Were Liars last year I think, and it was an alright read I suppose, I’ve never been one for mystery/thriller type books though. I did find the way the story was told interesting though. Hope you have a great week 🙂

I know! I love the cover so much. I’m with you, I didn’t *love* it, but I enjoyed the writing style so much.

  5. The weather is odd. I can’t wait until it makes up it’s mind because I can’t deal anymore Lol

I hope you have a great week, Vani! Happy Reading!

    1. Vani says:

Haha exactly! I’m so ready for it to at least even out and choose between hot and cold.

We were liars has been on my kindle for awhile now but I keep avoiding it. I have heard so many mixed reviews that I am not sure I want to invest the time in reading a book that might make me ragey. Hope you have a great week!

    1. Vani says:

I get that! The reviews are definitely super mixed. I went in knowing that but also it’s so short and the chapters are so short so it didn’t feel like TOO much invested time if I didn’t like it.

  7. Evelina says:

I love your choices, especially the ghostly ones 🙂 I think I’ll have to look up those two top ones 🙂
BTW, you might want to check your link on the linkup, it didn’t work for me!

    1. Vani says:

They were definitely soo good!!! I’ll look forward to hearing your thoughts if you get one.

I’ll look at it! Thanks for letting me know 🙂

  8. Emma says:

I liked We Were Liars but know why it’s a bit marmite.

  9. Greg says:

I felt much the same way about We Were Liars (nice review, BTW). And I loved Big Little Lies-it’s a trip. Hope you like it too!

    1. Vani says:

I hope so too!! I don’t know much about it yet but I have heard great things.

  10. I enjoyed We Were Liars…and Big Little Lies. (Themes of lies are fascinating, aren’t they?).

Thanks for sharing…and for visiting my blog.

I’m curious about The Beauty That Remains. Have a great week!

    1. Vani says:

I know! I kept having trouble writing it, I wanna write We Were Big Pretty Little Liars haha. I can’t keep them straight anymore!
